International Photography Awards. IPA. One of the three most prestigious competitions for photographers, often compared to the Oscars. 79 judges – photographers, journalists from the most prestigious newspapers and magazines, gallerists and others.
I entered four photographs and one series this year – for me the ultimate discipline, where you have to find the perfect balance between image and text to capture the viewer’s full attention.
All my entries now carry the „Official Selection“ award, having made it through to the shortlist among thousands of others – you can’t imagine how happy I am.
Now the jury has a month to determine the absolute winners. I will honestly admit that winning the first place, which is announced year after year in New York at the famous Carnegie Hall, is my biggest photographic dream and goal. I would love to make it this year, but I also know that my photographs are not that far away yet, and I certainly don’t suffer from false modesty, but I still have a long way to go.
